Meet the Artist
Jon Prom is a self-taught mixed-media artist based in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Alberta, Canada. Though he has been painting throughout his life, he committed to full-time artistic practice in 2022, dedicating himself to capturing the landscapes that surround him and leaving behind a career in automative painting and vinyl wrapping.
Jon’s art is inspired by the mountains he explores daily—through hikes, backpacking trips, and ski days with his wife and dogs—moments that inform both his subject matter and his emotional connection to the landscape.
As a self-taught artist, he's committed to constant experimentation and improvement, always pushing his technique and exploring new ways to capture the landscapes he loves.

“As a mixed-media artist, I combine acrylic on canvas with epoxy resin on water features to create paintings that blur the boundary between representation and presence.”
The resin transforms water—lakes, rivers, and streams—into luminous, dimensional surfaces that catch and reflect light just as they do in nature. This technique creates depth and movement, drawing the viewer's eye into the composition and evoking the sensory experience of actually being there: the cool mist of a mountain stream, the glimmer of alpine water, the interplay of light and shadow across a pristine landscape.
By blending paint with resin, my goal is to create an immersive experience that transcends the canvas and pulls you into the landscape. It's about presence and connection to the raw beauty of the natural world.
When you stand before my works, my hope is that you're stepping into the scene—not just looking at it.
